Steve Jobs 1955-2011

This morning I awoke to the sad news that Steve Jobs Chairman of Apple had passed away. It had been well documented in recent weeks that Jobs had been struggling with illness and this morning Steve Jobs sadly died after losing his battle with cancer.

Sadly I have been reading on certain blogs and on certain websites, articles saying Steve Jobs did nothing for the world. These people must have living under a rock for the last 30 years. Steve Jobs achieved in 56 short years more then most people achieve in a lifetime.

For a start Jobs bought a small animation company which he later renamed Pixar and turned it into the worlds greatest animation centre. Jobs is credited as an executive producer on the film Toy Story. Even before I start talking about Apple, Steve Jobs has already made a massive impact on many people’s lives through his work at Pixar.

I find it amazing that I woke up this morning and saw the tragic news of Jobs death on a device that he created. My iphone. I think all of my friends have an iPod. In the last ten years ipod’s have become number one portable music device. It does not matter which model you have, if you have an iPod you have a link to Steve Jobs. If you have an iPhone or an iPad or a Mac computer you have a link to Steve Jobs.

Like many other people I would often find myself watching Jobs deliver his keynote’s on Apple’s latest product and he did this with such enthusiasm. This was a man who genuinely loved what he was doing and I loved watching it.

As a film student, Apple have been a major part of my life in the last 5 years. College, Uni and at home I make videos on a Mac as do industry professionals.

Steve Jobs is undoubtly one of the most important people that ever lived and will be sadly missed by all.

One more thing…  Thank you Steve.
